eMerge is a web-based mapping solution, developed by Siemens and introduced to allow local authorities to make the data held in Comet available to the general public over the internet.
The information is shown in a map format, which is simple to read and easy to understand. The map software is embedded in a standard template, which can be customised or branded with individual local authorities' colour schemes and logos, and offers a single 'off the shelf' solution, providing a short cut through the process of web development and design.
Up to seven themes are available for display including congestion, incidents, parking and public transport. Additionally, there is scope for local content, such as links to tourist sites and travel information, to be displayed.
The launch of eMerge in Hampshire means that drivers drivers can log on to check on car parking availability, traffic flow and other reported incidents, to help plan journey routes before travelling into towns and cities within the County. To see eMerge in action visit ROMANSE website.
