Siemens' Comet system has been used by a number of authorities to automate much of the normal network operation, bringing together information from different systems to detect and manage traffic flows. Automatic strategic control can include setting signs, introducing different traffic plans or customising SCOOT configuration to optimise flows and minimise congestion without requiring operator intervention.
Comet users benefit from a regular programme of software releases to provide new and enhanced features. The latest software release provides users with upgrades to the latest UTMC standards, enhanced triggers for automated strategies, an email adapter for incident and event notification to external users and additional adapters for linking non-UTMC systems data into Comet.
