Siemens’ variable message sign system is designed to provide highly visible and concise information to drivers, enabling them to be better informed, reducing traffic congestion, shortening journey times and lowering pollution levels.
The signs are designed to be highly configurable, adaptable, and flexible to meet many different requirements and comply with the Highways Agency specifications. These include TR2136, TR2516 and TR2130B as well as British Standard BS EN50293
Modular - Ideal for applications such as car park signs where only a small amount of variable text is required within a flat plate sign, signs can be configured from character modules together with associated electronics drive units. Where data needs to be displayed cut outs are made in the front plate and LED optical assemblies are attached to the rear of the front plate along with the electronics driving modules. Six or twelve character length optical assemblies are available.
Enclosure - A more traditional enclosure format is used for traffic information signs or car park signs that have a larger quantity of optical assemblies. The monopole design has proved to be very popular as it takes up less space at the street level, ideal for areas that have little space or are already cluttered with other street furniture. Available in nine, twelve, fifteen and eighteen character lengths.
Car park guidance and VMS management
The use of car park guidance is widespread throughout the UK to direct drivers to vacant parking areas avoiding incidents and delays. When used with variable message signs, Comet provides motorists with accurate and up to date information, allowing an informed choice to be made about the best parking options and traffic conditions.
