Prior to his appointment, Ron was Director of Corporate Strategy for Siemens plc for three years. He joined Siemens in 1975 as a sales engineer in the Offshore Oil & Gas division and was subsequently trained in Germany before returning to the UK to launch a High and Low Voltage Motor business.

In 1980, Ron was appointed Manager for the Rotating Machines department and following a number of general management positions covering Power, Transportation and Automation Engineering, became Managing Director of the Siemens Industrial Projects & Systems division in 1992.

He has had coaching responsibilities for Siemens ElectroCom (UK) Ltd, Siemens Facilities Management Ltd, ADB (UK) Ltd and Siemens Building Technologies.

Ron is a member of Siemens plc's strategy board and as the Siemens ambassador in the North West, he is a Northwest CBI council member and promotes Siemens’ participation in a wide range of community activities.
