Appointed Managing Director of Siemens Infrastructure & Cities UK in November 2011, Gordon Wakeford is responsible for leading the Siemens business units specialising in sustainable mobility, environmental protection and energy savings.
With a headcount of some 4000 employees based throughout the UK these businesses deliver total traffic solutions, airport baggage handling systems, rail infrastructure, sustainable energy supply, security, smart building technology and train supply and maintenance.
Gordon is a member of the UK Siemens Executive Management Board.
In addition to his role within Infrastructure & Cities, Gordon is Managing Director of the Mobility and Logistics Division for the UK and North West Europe Cluster, and Managing Director of Traffic Solutions UK.
Prior to taking over his current role, Gordon was the Managing Director of Siemens Mobility in the UK, and prior to this the Managing Director of Standard Drives, Congleton. Gordon was responsible for the overall management, strategic development and co-ordination of Siemens activities within these businesses. During his Congleton appointment he was seconded to German operations for 14 months.
With over 25 years experience in Siemens, Gordon has worked in a wide variety of roles including engineering, projects, management, purchasing and operations management before taking on general management positions.
Gordon is married with two daughters.
