Siemens Transportation Systems is at the forefront of rail technology.
It designs, manufactures and maintains rolling stock, signalling, electrification systems as well as rail communication, control and information systems to the highest safety standards.
In April 2001 Siemens won the largest rolling stock order in UK rail history - a £1 billion contract to supply the Stagecoach Group with 155 new Desiro UK trains for the South West Trains network.
Another high profile project has been the design, build and maintenance of BAA’s hi-tech Heathrow Express service which runs from London Paddington to London Heathrow airport.
Other recent successes include a £350m contract with FirstGroup/Keolis to supply and maintain 51 new trains for the Trans Pennine Express rail franchise in northern England, and a £50 million contract to upgrade end of life signalling and communications equipment for Network Rail in the Portsmouth area.
