Siemens in the UK is commited to:

identifying and implementing means for prevention of pollution and minimising harmful effects on the environment and for reducing the use of energy and other resources.
complying with environmental legislation and other requirements relating to environmental aspects of the business.
continally improving environmental performance above and beyond legal requirements.

This policy applies to all activities undertaken by Siemens in the UK in which Siemens AG has directly or indirectly controlling shareholding interest and those businesses over which is has management control.

Planning & Objectives

The Executive Management Board (EMB) will ensure that objectives are set on a regular basis to meet the policy requirements. Principle inputs to the planning process are obtained from:

legal and other external requirements such as marketplace or customer initiatives;
requirements of Siemens AG objectives and targets
environmental objectives established by the Siemens Corporate Responsibility programme

Additionally, Siemens operating companies will set relevant environmental objectives and targets that take into account the evaluation of local environmental aspects.

Responsibility and Implementation

The responsibility for achieving this policy is delegated via the EMB to the Managing Directors of individual Siemens operating companies. All Siemens UK Managing Directors are required to:

implement an appropriate environmental management system compatible with ISO 14001
engender and maintain high awareness of environmental matters and policies through communication, consultation, co-operation and involvement
ensure tough training and awareness that employees are fully competent to undertake their tasks and responsibilities
audit, review and continually improve their business performance in the field of environmental management.

As Chief Executive of the Siemens UK Regional Company, I give my personal commitment to this policy and to ensuring that businesses' decisions reflect its requirements.
