That depends. Different areas involve different tasks: from installing traffic signalling to keeping wind turbines turning. Wherever you join us, you'll learn on the job, from the best people in their field. You'll also have support towards relevant qualifications.

Different programmes run slightly differently – but in most businesses you can expect to have completed the programme in 3-4 years (with either an NVQ or HND under your belt). Afterwards, we’ll work with you to ensure you go into a permanent role within your business in an area you enjoy and have excelled at.
There is a wide variety of areas to work in, whether you are interested in a technical role or something more commercial.
For most technical roles you'll work towards an NVQ/HND in an engineering subject, which could be in the Energy Service Fossil (gas & wind turbine manufacturing), Transportation Systems, Traffic Controls, or Transmission & Distribution (power station & electricity supply).
For more commercial roles please consider the Siemens Finance and Commercial Academy.
Of course. You’re one of the next generation of engineers and our teams want to make sure you achieve everything you're capable of – they'll be open to your comments, ideas and thoughts. As will your personal mentor. We make a point of two-way conversation at Siemens. So as well as us telling you what's going on, we want you to tell us.
No. Certainly not, at Siemens. We're interested in your talent, not your gender. This is a modern organisation that prides itself on treating its people equally, whatever their sex, beliefs, sexual orientation, race, disability or age.
It really depends on what you’re looking for. We cannot pretend to replicate student life but we think we offer something special. Our apprentices aren't saddled with student debt – they’re sponsored by us to complete their qualification. And they’re earning while they learn valuable skills, so they're better off all round.
It really depends on where you work. We are more than happy to discuss this with you at an interview stage.
In previous years we have taken on up to 69 apprentices across Siemens. For a company of our size this isn't enough. We are looking to rapidly expand the numbers of apprentices we recruit into Siemens year on year.
You’ll need to have completed your compulsory education and have GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications.
Subjects and grades vary depending on the apprenticeship – do check the individual requirements for these roles to ensure you meet the criteria before you apply.
Again, different schemes look for different qualities and competancies. Check out the entry requirements section of each business area.
We run apprenticeships in the following locations:
