Wig-Wag
Wig-Wags, the new range of warning signals from Siemens, offer the complete solution for the provision of priority signals at Fire and Ambulance stations. The signals may also be used in other locations, such as bridge crossings, where there is a need to stop ordinary traffic flow.
The system is based on the ST900 Low Voltage (LV) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) controllers and the wig-wag signals use Helios central lights source modules. These signals may be activated by a simple push button or a more elaborate activation box if required. Where wig-wags are required to close an intersection, the signals can be combined with normal intersection control offering reduced equipment requirements.

First Wig Wag Installation
Commissioned on behalf of County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, Siemens' first wig-wag installation has recently commenced operation at the Peterlee Fire Station.
On behalf of the County Council, Malcom Sinclair, Traffic Signals Team Leader stated: "The Fire Service required a system which would alleviate concerns regarding safety and delay when fire engines were leaving the station on emergency calls. As reliability of such a system is paramount in achieving this, using a state of the art controller based on the ST900 gives a lot of confidence. From a maintenance point of view, it is also reassuring to know that spares and support will be available for years to come.'
