Maximising the effectiveness of existing ITS assets by improving operation and reducing costs is vital to delivering a best value service to road users and other stakeholders. Siemens has a proven track record of working with clients to assess and modernise signal installations to improve, safety, operation and sustainability.
The services provided by Siemens Mobility’s Consultancy Services Team can cover the on-site assessment of both instation and roadside assets. The assessment would be tailored to meet each Client’s specific needs however it could include examining and cataloguing the status and condition of existing assets and reviewing operation and performance.
This assessment would be used to identify opportunities for improvement such as;
- reducing operating costs and improving operational sustainability through the deployment of energy efficient solutions such LV or ELV,
- improving junction operation though the deployment of more efficient equipment or control methods such as MOVA and SCOOT,
- options for improving safety and operation through changes to the layout of signals and associated street furniture,
- optimizing existing control strategies to reflect latest traffic patterns and driver behaviour,
- compliance with the latest legislation and guidelines.
This information can be compiled into a report and tabulated for easy entry into existing asset management databases. The output of the asset assessment process can be combined with maintenance, capital costs and other information to derive the most cost effective allocation of resources for meeting the needs of road network users and other stakeholders.
The level of support provided by Siemens Mobility is customized to meet the Clients needs. It can be provided on a long term basis providing regular updates, called off as required or offered as a total service solution with Siemens managing asset data on behalf of the Client. If required Siemens can assist with identifying high priority areas and developing an asset management strategy.
